A Day with Huskies Safari
A day spent out in the wilds with a team of huskies is a fantastic experience that will last in your
memory. You will get the feeling for the untouched nature and working together with these amazing
arctic animals, the kind and loyal huskies.
Our safari is planned on easily accessible and safe routes.
Husky ride is suitable for everyone, because sitting in the sledge as a passenger does not require any
special skills. It is important to wear warm clothes in several layers, a warm hat and mittens. The
shoes are warm when they are big enough to fit a layer of air and woolen socks. In the sledges there
are reindeer hides and woolen blankets.
...but Riding by yourself is much nicer! Riding is not very difficult, if you as told during the driving
and safety lesson. With the team of 6 dogs you need to have about 50 kg body mass to be able to
control the sledge and stop the team whenever you need and like. Basically, it is like a riding a bicycle;
lean in the curves and brake with your feet to slow down the speed or stop completely. You need to
have some sense of balance and be able to stand on one foot.
The trip includes lunch at Forest Restaurant Huilinki.

- Elk-meatballs with potato wedges, season vegetables and
cream sauce
- Coffee, brewed by the camp fire, Lappish cheese and
Cloudberries.
